Meet Robert Daniel

A professional educator born and raised in Canada, I am seeking the Democratic Party nomination for state representative for Hillsborough district 24. My doctorate is in Montessori education leadership from the University of Wisconsin. I also have graduate degrees in political science, history, and education. I have been a homeowner in ward 4 for seven years.

I am running because I believe politics needs a renewed commitment to practical solutions, evidence-based policymaking, and respectful civil dialogue. My campaign slogan, also the name of my professional blog, is “What Unites Us?” I believe that there is a lot more that unites us than the divisions emphasized by political parties often suggest. I consider myself to be a bridge-building candidate. I believe that public service requires listening, thoughtful debate, and a willingness to work with people who do not always agree.

My approach to public policy is guided by these principles, which are also core values of mine: embracing differences; maximizing freedom while maintaining sensible boundaries; equal opportunity; and recognizing that human rights – such as freedom of expression, freedom to live in peace, and free enterprise – are universal and non-negotiable. These are principles that have long guided both the Democratic tradition and the American tradition.
